But plenty of candidates start late. If you are already close to formal deadlines, do not waste time regretting the missed runway. Build a one-page resume, start GOBLIN100, map alumni, submit applications, and run coffee chats in parallel. The later you start, the less sequential the process becomes.

No, but you need proof that points in the right direction: finance club work, accounting classes, search fund work, student fund reps, business internships, startup finance work, valuation projects, or any professional role where you can show judgment and reliability.

That is a legitimate outcome. The point of the first two articles is to decide deliberately before the recruiting machine makes the decision for you. Banking can be a strong first job, but it is not the right first job for every ambitious student.
