MBA IB Recruiting Timeline
The MBA IB recruiting calendar from pre-MBA summer through Superdays, including accelerated processes, regional timing, NY bulk, the dead zone, and what should be true at each checkpoint.
MBA IB recruiting feels chaotic because the visible calendar and the real calendar are not the same.
The visible calendar says: info sessions in fall, applications later, Superdays in winter.
The real calendar says: candidates are forming bank views over the summer, banks are building informal short lists during September and October, accelerated processes can fire before Thanksgiving, and the January NY bulk process is mostly won before January.
The short version
The recruiting timeline has seven phases.
| Phase | Timing | What matters |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-MBA summer | May–August | Technicals, story, target list, market habit, early outreach |
| Orientation and week one | Late August / early September | First impressions, club engagement, bank events |
| Coffee-chat sprint | September–mid October | Advocacy, fit, commitment, target-bank conversion |
| Accelerated processes | Late October–November | Regional, West Coast, Houston, elite boutique, and closed-list activity |
| “Dead zone” | Mid-November–early January | Bid conversion, mocks, follow-up, short-list finalization |
| NY bulk / Superdays | January–February | Formal interviews and offer decisions |
| Summer Associate internship | June–August | Convert internship into return offer |
The important point: fall networking is not preparation for recruiting. It is recruiting.
Phase 1: Pre-MBA summer
