OFFERGOBLIN vs IBvine: which IB interview prep platform should you actually use in 2026?

A head-to-head comparison of OFFERGOBLIN and IBvine — question banks, Excel training, pricing, mock interviews, and which one fits your recruiting timeline.

MN·8 min read··

The short version: IBvine is the unguided, browse-it-yourself version. OFFERGOBLIN is the comprehensive one, built from the ground up by a former Centerview banker.

If you are prepping for investment banking interviews, you have two modern web-first options worth looking at: OFFERGOBLIN and IBvine. Everything else is a PDF, a YouTube channel, or a $500 video course.

This is the honest head-to-head.

The 30-second verdict

  • Pick OFFERGOBLIN if you want to be thorough. You want every technical question that has ever been asked, a guided curriculum that tells you what to study next, an adaptive engine that spots your weaknesses, and Excel shortcut drills in the same subscription.
  • Pick IBvine if you want a cheaper, unguided question dump. You already know what you need to study, you do not need anything coaching you, and you want audio mock content to listen to on commutes.

The origin stories matter here

IBvine started in late 2019 as a free community project — effectively a crowdsourced dump of the classic M&I 400 questions in a browseable format, built by a founder who was an undergrad at the time. It ran as a hobby project for six years. In February 2025 the founder rebuilt the site as "IBvine 2.0" and started charging for it. That is the product you see today.

That origin still shows. IBvine is a library of questions pinned up on a wall — you walk in, pick a filter, and scroll. It is cheap because it was built cheap.

OFFERGOBLIN is brand new and was designed as a product from day one. It was built by a former Centerview Partners M&A banker with an MBA and a computer science background — so it has the twin advantages of being made by someone who has actually sat in the interviews on both sides of the table, and by someone who can ship software. The curriculum is structured. The questions are tagged, versioned, and weighted. The Excel trainer lives inside a real spreadsheet grid. Everything is built as one integrated product, not glued onto a question dump.
