The Ultimate Investment Banking Resume Template
The ultimate investment banking resume template: one-page format, banker-ready bullets, downloadable Word file, and an annotated example resume from Booth MBA to Centerview.
MN·2 min read
A banker reads your resume in about ten seconds. The format is solved — use the template, follow the rules, then stop iterating.
The rules
- One page. Always.
- One line per bullet. If it wraps, cut.
- Header: name, city + state, phone, professional email. No street address.
- Education first if you are a student, recent grad, or MBA candidate. Otherwise Experience leads.
- Bullet formula: strong verb + specific work + scale or scope + result.
- Put a number in every bullet you can. Revenue, users, team size, deal size, cost saved, time reduced.
- Vary the bullets. Show analysis, leadership, client influence, and execution — not three versions of "supported the team."
- Stack roles under one employer when you were promoted; do not repeat the company name.
- Older roles get fewer bullets. One or two if it still earns its line.
- Concentrations, honors, coursework — include only if they strengthen the target story. Cut the filler.
- Skills & Interests = a label, then proof. "Endurance athlete: 2x Ironman" beats "running."
